I had a thought today, about women. Women really are silly, are they not? They live to vex us, but then want our undivided attention at the next moment. They really only have 2 passions in life: "The Love of Pleasure and the Love of Sway". They expect to be treated like Queens, even if they are but a lowly peasant with no family fortune at all. Men go about our business as we see fit, but women are shallow and only worry about the appearance of their hairstyle or gown. It is true, men are the greater sex.

What an interesting day yesterday was. As I mentioned before, I received a rather sudden visit from Miss Fermor. She believes it was my intention, in writing The Rape of the Lock, to cast her character as silly and conceited. I tried to explain to her that I was only trying to be as true to her as possible... This of course only made her more angry.

What a day it has been, this day! I have received an announcement, by post, that one fair maiden about whom I have recently written a poem shall be calling on me this very day. I can't begin to imagine what business she would have that should prove to be so pertinent that she must call upon me at my place of work. (I am being facetious, of course).
